Northern California Obstetrical and Gynecological Society

Dear members and friends,

The Northern California Obstetrical and Gynecological Society has been a part of the Sacramento medical community for over 60 years. The Society has been an organization for physicians and health care professionals in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Society promotes educational activities, the exchange of ideas, and social interaction to build a strong medical community in the field of women’s health care.

However, the society has struggled to maintain membership over the past several years. We have been unable to maintain our educational symposium and member attendance to dinner meetings has declined. The decrease in participation and membership dues has led to a point where our society no longer has the funds to survive.

It is with a heavy heart that I will be dissolving the society at the end of this year [2019].

What is left of Society funds will be donated to the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons, specifically the Michael P Aronson fund. The money raised from this fund will be used to continue excellence in postgraduate education in gynecologic surgery through the SGS Winter Postgraduate Program that Mike directed for eight years before he passed from an untimely and early illness. Thus, our remaining funds will be utilized to help educate and train gynecologic surgeons. Thank you for your participation in the Northern California Obstetrical and Gynecological Society through the years.
